What kinds of batteries do we recycle?

We are able to recycle Lead-Acid batteries of all shapes and sizes.  The most common ones are what's called Starting, Lighting and Ignition (SLIG) batteries.  These are commonly found in cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and the like.

In addition to vehicle batteries, other batteries like the large deep cycle batteries used in off-grid Renewable Energy and Back-up power systems can also be recycled.

Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries are often found in wheel chairs, personal mobility scooters, toy cars, computer Uninterpretable Power Supplies, emergency lighting and alarm systems. These can usually be recycled.

Gel cell batteries - preferred by many sailors - also recyclable.

What we cannot recycle:

At RENCO,  we are able to recycle only lead-acid type batteries.  Other types of batteries should be disposed of according to guidelines set forth by responsible parties in their respective industries.  Types of batteries that we can't process include:

  • Alkaline, Zinc-Carbon  (for example D, C, AA, AAA)
